The Knoxville City Council met in special session last night. The first item on the agenda was a consideration of an Interim Management Agreement with Schrad Solutions, LLC, an agreement that would allow retiring City Manager Dick Schrad to continue in his position until the new City Manager arrives around Memorial Day. Schrad reported that legal considerations preclude such an arrangement until he has left the employment of the city for thirty days. A contract extension is an alternative, but no decision was made. The critical components the council wishes for Schrad to complete is a 28E agreement with the Water Utility related to economic development, and TIFF’s related to Weiler, Inc and Park Lane developments as well as an Enterprise Zone application.
Schrad also reported that the city’s website has been hacked, and that structure and content has been compromised.
The second item on the agenda was a development agreement with Weiler, Inc related to TIFF moneys to help reimburse Weiler for infrastructure costs related to their five million dollar expansion. The reimbursement amount is approximately $199,000. A public hearing regarding this matter will be held May 2nd.
