After two days of tours and interviews with candidates the Knoxville City Council has selected their new City Manager.
Of the four candidates that were interviewed by the City Council, Mayor and City Staff Harold Stewart has been chosen to take over for current City Manager Dick Schrad who will retire next month.
Stewart is the current City Manager of Ogallala, Nebraska where he oversees a staff of 15 employees and an $8 million general fund. Prior to working in Ogallala where he has been since 2008, Stewart worked in as an assistant to the City Administrator in Yuma, Arizona.
Some of his work history highlights include spurring economic development, doubling the capacity of the City Recreation Center with no funding coming from local tax payers and being honored with the Nebraska Panhandle Library Association’s Library Advocacy Award.
The Council approved a contract last Saturday afternoon which has been accepted by Stewart. His exact start date has not yet been released.
