Professional development days in the Knoxville School District will be a little longer beginning this fall. As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS, the school board approved the 2012-2013 calendar at their meeting this week which includes 12 three hour early dismissal days. Currently, students are dismissed two hours early on professional development days. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says the dismissals have been moved forward as the teachers have a lot to cover such as getting used to the one-to-one laptop program and implementation of the Iowa Core Curriculum. He says they are going to try this format for the next year and may change it back after that.
