Twenty-nine local teams participated in the annual Marion County 4-H basketball tournament in Melcher-Dallas earlier this month. There were four divisions in the tournament based on age and sex. The Saint Pride club won the junior girls championship, Our Union took home first place in the senior girls division and the Prairie Pride club won both the junior and senior boys divisions. Teams, coaches and fans were also evaluated on their sportsmanship throughout the weekend with Hop n’ Hurry winning Friday’s sportsmanship contest and Saint Pride won on Saturday. Individual members also participated in a free throw contest before the championship games.
