Marion County Receives a Clean 2010 Audit and Discusses Two Rivers Expansion Project

The Marion County Board of Supervisors met twice yesterday. At the meeting the board made a proclamation in memory of Duane Jones, recognizing his many years of public service on board and commissions in Marion County.

The board also received and filed the 2010 financial report and audit which Auditor Jake Grandia says was a very good and clean process.

Also the Supervisors approved property tax suspension applications for two property parcels and approved 11 work beyond the right-of-way agreements between landowners and the secondary roads department for repairs to slides and culverts due to last year’s wet summer and fall.

The single item on the agenda for the second meeting was a presentation from Engineer Roger Schletzbaum in regards to plans for transportation routes as a result of the Two Rivers Co-op expansion project in Tracy.

Four routes were considered, with Schletzbaum recommending the one he felt was most practical and cost effective. The Supervisors will further consider the recommendation and possibly bonding for the project and take action at a future meeting.

Conversation also took place regarding the possibility of another company moving into northwest Mahaska County which may impact Tracy roads. No details have been released at this time. KNIA/KRLS news will bring you information as it becomes official.
