On March 31st the non-partisan legislative service agency released their initial draft of a redistricting plan for Iowa which splits some Marion County communities into different districts. Though there was initial skepticism, it appears that the legislature may accept the draft quicker than some anticipated. Senator Paul McKinley says five public hearings were held in regards to the maps and while neither the Senate or Republican caucus has had a full discussion about the matter he believes the proposed plan will pass, unless something dramatic happens.
