A new trial date has been set for a Knoxville man accused of paying a co-worker to kill his wife in January. Michael Jamey Miller’s first degree murder trial will begin on September 13th at 9:30am in the Marion County Courthouse. A pretrial conference has been set for August 5th. Miller originally demanded a speedy trial but earlier this month he filed for a deadline extension and later waived that right. All counsel involved in the case have agreed that special assignment of a judge is appropriate and that request will be submitted to Judge Gamble for consideration. Miller allegedly paid co-worker Terry Cobbins Jr. to kill his wife Teresa who was found shot dead in her home south of Knoxville on January 7th. Both men remain in the Marion County jail.
