The Marion County Republicans held their committee meeting last night in Pella. On hand to speak were At-Large Pella City Council member Jim Mueller, who announced his candidacy for Mayor of Pella and also Jean Stanford, Chair of the Benton County Republicans. Stanford was in town on a grassroots effort to promote a presidential run for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Stanford says her group, with a growing Iowa base, is confident Palin can secure the nomination, likening the 2008 Vice Presidential candidate to the famous race horse Secretariat.
