A new plan to streamline mental health services in Iowa has raised concern among County employees. Governor Terry Branstad has introduced a plan that would centralize mental health services at the state level, removing a patchwork of county proceedures and rules. Betty Moll, Director of the Marion County Point of Coordination says removing these operations from the county level would leave the people most in need of those mental health services at greatest risk for not having access, a problem the Governor’s plan attempts to fix.
