Safety Tips For Easter Egg Hunts

With several Easter Egg hunts going on around Marion County today, there are some safety concerns to keep in mind. Safe egg handling practices are encouraged by all Iowans and the Iowa Department of Public Health has some tips including using plastic eggs for outdoor egg hunts, keeping hard boiled eggs intended for eating in the refrigerator until they’re served. The Department also notes that chicks and young ducklings that may draw the attention of young children can carry harmful bacteria such as salmonella.
