Another sign of the mild winter we had can be found at area golf courses. Dan Dursky of the Pella Golf and Country Club says that facility appears to be in good shape as the season begins.
He says as ground temperatures rise and grass begins growing, he’ll have a better idea of just how much work will need to be done, but adds that the putting surfaces are already showing signs of life.
Jeff Arkema, Course Superintendent at Pine Knolls in Knoxville says the greens there are also in good shape following the winter. He says his crews have been out all spring pruning trees and getting equipment ready for the season.
Scott Reuter, General Manager and Head Pro at Bos Landen echoed those thoughts. He says that facility came out of the winter nicely with no damage or areas of killed grass and the greens are already in good shape.
