An assistant coach from the Missouri Valley Conference has been chosen as the new head coach for the Central College women’s basketball program. Mike Jacobsma was most recently an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Evansville in Indiana, and will replace Jerry Nikkel – who retired after three years at the helm of the Dutch women’s program.
A native of Ocheydan, Iowa, Jacobsma had also worked as an assistant at Colorado School of Mines and Wayne State College. He will inherit a Central women’s basketball program that was a powerhouse in the 1990s, but sputtered to a 5-20 record with a young squad this past season.
Jacobsma will assume his duties as head coach of the Dutch on June 1st.
