As the National Championships approach, the women’s and men’s track and field squads at Central College each remain in the top 20 and top 5 of their respective rankings.  The Dutch women hold on to the No. 19 spot in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) outdoor power rankings, while the Central men moved up a spot back to No. 5.
The Central men are coming off their third consecutive Iowa Conference title last weekend in Mount Vernon, where Ethan Miller was named the league’s field event performer of the year and Kyle Wood claimed track MVP honors.  Both were named as Iowa Conference male athletes of the week for this week.  Central’s Head Coach, Joe Dunham, was again named league coach of the year.
Both squads for Central have a chance to improve their marks before the NCAA Division III Championships slated for next week in Delaware, Ohio. Partial squads are currently competing in the North Central Gregory Invitational in Naperville, Illinois, as well as the Augustana Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Illinois.
