Fuel prices have shot to nearly $4 per gallon, turning heads for any organization that has to plan for big transportation budgets. Pella Community Schools vehicles traveled 198,000 miles at an average of 6 miles per gallon, totaling approximately 33,000 gallons of fuel used last year. Jon Miller, the district’s Business Manager says they always give a bit of cushion to the transportation budget in case prices jump. He says the budget for fuel this year was $145,000, and they’ll have plenty left to get through the next couple weeks.
