The Knoxville School District will be pursuing a FEMA grant to help build an auditorium, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Randy Flack and Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson. Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS News that FEMA is working with local communities to build shelters and that the shelters are often multi-functional buildings such as auditoriums. Knoxville schools are now in the proposal process with FEMA, and will soon be speaking with architects about the facility. The facility is projected to cost a minimum of five million dollars, and FEMA could contribute up to 80% of the funding.
