Funeral services for Iola Marie Gladfelder, age 75, of Lovilla will be held on Tuesday May 10th at 11AM at the Lovilla United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilla. Visitation will be held on Monday May 9th open to the public at 1PM with the family present from 6-8PM Monday evening at the Sinnott-Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lovilla. Iola Marie Gladfelder died in Lovilla Friday, May 6th at the Monroe County Hospital under the care of Hospice of Monroe Country. She was born on April 1, 1936 in Lovilla to Harold Emlin and Frances Iola (Barnes) Waters.
She graduated from Lovilla High School, class of 1954. She married Kenneth Gene Gladfelder on May 27th, 1955 in Moravia. She worked for the Insurance Exchange in Des Moines before her family returned to Lovilla. She then worked for Kaisers in Lovilla and Chamberlain Manufacturing in Albia. She transferred with the plant to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1982 until her retirement in 1998. Iola then moved back to Lovilla. Kenneth died in February 1989.
Iola was a member of the Lovilla United Methodist Church. She enjoyed league bowling, old black and white movies, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also cherished time spent with her dog Buddy.
She is survived by her mother Frances Waters of Lovilla, daughter Diane Gladfelder Edgington of Attica, grandchildren: Adam (Tiffany) Edgington of Des Moines, and Ryan Edgington and Meagan Hemmer of West Des Moines, great granddaughter, Kiersten. She is also survived by siblings: Carol (DeWayne) Allison of Lovilla, Phyllis (Tom) Dunkin of Lovilla, Gene (Marge) Waters of Muscatine, Mark (Joyce) Waters of Des Moines, sister-in-law, Sharon Waters and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold, husband Kenneth, three infant children, one brother, John Waters, and one special nephew, Dale Allison.
