KNIA/KRLS has been recognized for overall excellence by the Iowa Broadcast News Association. The station received the organization’s top honor in the small market radio division during the annual convention awards banquet Saturday evening in Johnston. In addition, first place honors were awarded in the Overall Excellence in Anchoring, Sports Coverage and Use of Actuality categories.
KNIA/KRLS also received honors in the Farm and Agribusiness, Sports Coverage, Spot News Coverage, Feature, Public Affairs, Sports Play-by-Play and Political Coverage categories for the small market radio division.
The small market radio is defined as all stations in Iowa with the exception of those in the state’s 8 largest markets including Dubuque, Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Des Moines, Sioux City and Omaha/Council Bluffs.
