An undercover Knoxville police officer played a role in an investigation in Newton that resulted in the closing of a Newton Health Clinic.  The investigation involved a number of cooperating agencies, including the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force.  Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says that a Knoxville undercover officer works regularly with the task force, and was involved with the investigation. Losada adds that abuse of prescription drugs is a growing problem in the community.  The investigation continues, and the clinic’s supervising physician voluntarily surrendered his license to issue prescription narcotics.
