The Knoxville City Council met yesterday evening. Among items discussed were the pond at Edwards Park, event permits, and the Columbaria Project at Graceland Cemetery. Discussion regarding the pond at Edwards Park focused on many years of insufficient city maintenance that has resulted in the deterioration of the pond. The possibility of sale of the park was raised. No action was taken. The council approved a $100 fee for permits for special events, including the farmers market. The $100 fee would be for the season. The council also approved the Police Department bike sale, approved purchase of a new server, and also increased the number of taxi cab licenses available, and applied a $25 fee per vehicle, among other items.
