While their male cohorts have got most of the spotlight this season…the Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad has had their shining moments this season. Senior Shot Putter and Discus Thrower Katie Ayers have consistently been at the top of the standings in nearly every meet this season and is currently ranked second in the regional according to Quick Stats. Also, Sprinter Amy Turner has some of the best times in the 200. Coach Jeremy Van Engen knows his girls can get a few events to state, but with Williamsburg, Pella and Grinnell in attendance it will not be easy. Also of note this season, Chambray Daugherty is one of the top high jumpers at the regional and will try to qualify for the Blue Oval. In the distance races, Alissa Van Klootwyk is currently ranked fourth in the 3000. The Panthers have been more than competitive in the relay races as well. Knoxville is ranked in the regional top five in the four-by-200, 400, and 800 meter relays.
