Teachers in the Knoxville School District will receive a pay increase of just over 2% in their salaries for the upcoming school year. As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS the Board of Education ratified the 2011-2012 master contract with the Knoxville Education Association at their meeting this week. Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack says this year’s negotiation session was very brief and he thinks the agreement that was approved was fair for both the teachers and the district, as with 0% allowable and no increase in enrollment Iowa schools don’t have much to play with in terms of budget. The KEA’s initial proposal was a 5% total package increase while the school board initially proposed a 1.5% increase.
