As the calendar now has turned to May, conference meets and tournaments will start this week. The Little Hawkeye Conference will be busy today with three different conference meets as the boys and girls team all gather in Grinnell for the L-H-C Track and Field Meet. Knoxville and Pella are looked on as the two favorites on the boys’ side. The two teams have traded the top two spots at most of the meets they have seen each other in. Pella is favored in the girls meet as the Lady Dutch have won nearly every meet they have entered including last week’s Tulip Time Relays.
Also on tap today are the conference’s boys and girls golf meets. The boys will also be in Grinnell where Oskaloosa and Norwalk figure to challenge for the top spots. The girls will play in Newton today.
For Knoxville it has been a season of rebuilding, but Coach Kyle Kincaid has been pleased with what he has seen from his young Panther squad. Pella and Pella Christian will also complete in Newton. Pella Coach Bob Fessler says his team has been playing better as of late, and Pella Christian has been improving its scores as well.
