Two Madison Elementary students participated in the state Special Olympic games last week in Ames. Kaelie DeHeer competed in the 250 meter cycling race and the 30 meter wheelchair race, winning gold medals in each. Caden Verhoef won a silver medal in the softball throw and a bronze medal in the 50 meter dash. This was the first state meet for both students.
