The Iowa Department of Transportation has released statewide accident statistics for the years 2004-2008.  Data is available by location, by type of accident, and by many other variables.  The data show that during those five years Pella had 793 accidents, 11 of which were considered major, with no fatalities.  Knoxville had 592 accidents, with 10 of those considered major, with three fatalities.  Rural Marion County had 1379 accidents, 59 considered major, with 22 fatalities over the five years.  To examine the data, including maps of accident locations, click here: http://www.iowadot.gov/crashanalysis/data/county/marion.htm.
