The Pella Christian boys soccer teams split a pair of games this past Saturday, hosted by Iowa Mennonite. The Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory over the host school in the first match, thanks to a pair of unassisted goals by Will Vandevoort and John Admiraal and 8 saves by keeper Jordan VanMaanen.
Pella Christian advanced to the championship game against Fairfield and found themselves tied at 2-2 at the end of regulation. With the game going to penalty kicks, both teams made their first and fourth shots to set up a dramatic fifth and final penalty kick. Fairfield was successful on their attempt, then denied Pella Christian’s attempt to win the match 3-2.
The Eagles are back in action again this evening at Centerville.
