The Pella Christian girls and boys soccer squads each earned wins over Oskaloosa last night in exciting, come-from-behind fashion. The Lady Eagles had plenty of chances to run away but just couldn’t convert as they outshot Oskaloosa 26-6 but still found themselves trailing 1-0 midway through the second half. Things would change quickly, however, as Pella Christian scored three goals in the final ten minutes – two from Bri Warden and one from Christina Nolte – to gain a 3-1 win and improve to 4-7 on the season.
The PC boys fought their way to a 3-2 sudden death win. John Admiraal scored the Eagles first goal on a penalty kick to put the Eagles in front 1-0 but Oskaloosa answered back with two goals to regain the lead. Pella Christian’s Will VandeVoort then tied it with a header on a corner kick from Cole Roorda.
Two overtimes later the Eagles would end it on a goal from Dan Hessing assisted by Admiraal. Pella Christian improved to 4-7 on the season and returns to action Monday when they host PCM. The girls are off until next Thursday when they host South Tama.
