Through 36 holes in the Boys Class 3-A State Golf Meet, Pella’s Lucas Boyd held a share of the lead with two other golfers, forcing a playoff hole to determine the individual state champion.  Ultimately, it was Clear Lake’s Brent Tarr who came out on top, winning the playoff to cap off a furious comeback during the second – and final – round of the meet.
Boyd fired a 75 on Saturday, two strokes more than the pace he had set through 18 holes on day one of the tournament.  Boyd’s final score of 148 also also tied him in second place with Little Hawkeye Conference rival Mitch Tucker of Oskaloosa, who carded a 73 on Saturday.
Clear Lake won the team title in the Boys Class 3-A State Golf Meet, which was held at the Ames Golf and Country Club.
