Today is “Iowa Museum Day,” as a time to reflect on the role museums play in providing an archive of memory, a source of educational opportunities, and for their economic role in the community. Bob Baker, Executive Director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum says the museum is constantly rotating and changing exhibits so there is always something new to see. The museum will be hosting a special program tomorrow in celebration of the day. The museum has placed two famous sprint cars from the 1980 Knoxville Nationals in it’s front window, and Hall of Famers Mike Brooks of Knoxville and Bob Trostle of Des Moines will meet fans at the Museum from 3-5pm next Saturday As part of the proclamation, Governor Branstad encourages all Iowans to visit and support our many fine museums.
