With record rainfall early Tuesday, some major repairs to area roads will be needed.

The County Engineers Office reports after a damage assessment at 240th Place south of 228th Avenue revealed a need for repairs that will force closure of the road for up to 30 days as crews repair the bridge.

Locally, no major problems were reported. Pella Public Works Director Denny Buyert says some basements have been flooded, noting that much water in such a short time would be a problem for nearly any city’s system.
