The city of Pella has seen several developments concerning its electrical system recently. Electric Services Director Larry Peterson says the action taken by the city has been focused on issues of reliability.
He says the new agreement with Missouri River Energy was made with the long term service needs of the city in mind.
The new agreement will, among other things, provide total generation and transmission service to Pella.
Peterson says the city looked at every option to keep generation local, but the future needs and costs of the power plant were simply too high.
