After two years of fundraising and a lot of hard work, the Hickory Ridge Wilderness Camp will open next month. The brand new camp at Lake Red Rock is having a celebration and dedication on July 22 and 23. It’s located on the lake’s new water trail and has become a favorite destination for paddlers, scouting groups, and anyone looking for a quiet spot. The project was a partnership between the Red Rock Lake Association, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, and the US Army Corp of Engineers.
