The recent hot weather has caused slight problems with area roads. Dennis Webb, with the Knoxville Street Department, says that they’ve had some minor problems with concrete on Park Lane near the Knoxville Recreation Center. Marion County Secondary Roads Department’s Tom Wadle says that a segment of G-46 and a location near Hunter’s Ridge has experienced some buckling as well. Roads buckle in the heat because as they expand, there’s no place for the pavement to go. They end up breaking upward at the weakest spot. Both departments are following up on the issues. Denny Buyert, with the City of Pella, says they’ve had no issues with roads buckling at this time.
