A locally produced cook book has been recognized for a national award. “Three Plates at the Table” is a finalist in the 2011 Indie Excellence Award.
The book was co-authored by Sheryl Ellinwood of Pella and Jamilee McQuivey of Fremont and published through The Write Place in Pella. Ellinwood says the book is intended to expose people to healthy versions of their favorite foods.
The collection offers versions of recipes for vegan, vegetarian and omnivore diets. Ellinwood says her favorite recipe is the mango sorbet.
