Too many offensive opportunities for the Norwalk baseball team ultimately sunk the Pella Christian baseball team on Wednesday night, as the Eagles fell 14-4 to the leading team in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
Pella Christian Head Coach Brad Rolffs said the Warriors got off to a strong start by scoring one or two runs in each of the game’s first four innings and never looked back, spraying hits throughout the Eagle defense.
Starting pitcher Zach Zylstra took the loss, allowing seven runs – five of them earned – while striking out three and giving up no walks in 3 2/3 innings of work.
At the plate, Pella Christian’s Tom Bouwkamp was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Jordan Rossler went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a walk.
The loss drops the Eagles to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, entering an important game Friday night against Knoxville.
