The Pella Christian baseball team had to go deep into its pitching rotation to earn a split on Saturday at a tournament at Eddyville-Blakesburg.
The Eagles fell 9-3 to North Mahaska in their first game of the day.  Jordan Rossler started on the mound for Pella Christian, with Spencer Fynaardt also throwing some innings in the loss.
The second game of the day saw the Eagles use three more pitchers, but this time they got the win – defeating Pekin 12-8 in a slugfest.  Rossler went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Zach Zylstra had two RBIs in a 2-for-4 performance on offense.
Micah Nieboer was the starting pitcher, with Will Vande Voort and Tom Bouwkamp each throwing some innings of relief.
The split puts the Pella Christian baseball team at 6-3 overall, as they return to Little Hawkeye Conference play today at South Tama.
