It only takes one run to win, and the Pella Christian softball team proved just that on Monday night, squeaking past Grinnell 1-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.  It wasn’t as if the Lady Eagles didn’t have opportunities to build on that lead, though, as they left eight runners stranded on base, including seven in scoring position.
Pella Christian’s Shelby Weaver scored the game’s lone run as she went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the team on offense.  Paige Blom and Jenna Roose each were 1-of-3 in their plate appearances.
Blom earned the win as the starting pitcher, going all seven innings and allowing only four hits and one walk while striking out five Grinnell batters.
With the win, the Pella Christian softball team is 6-3 in conference play, and will host South Tama on Wednesday.
