Pella Christian took advantage of early Knoxville errors to post 5-2 win over the Panthers in Little Hawkeye Conference softball last night. The Eagles struck first on back-to-back Knoxville errors in the second inning. Pella Christian would plate one in the third inning and two more in the fifth to round out the scoring. Paige Blom had an unusual pitching line. Still having control issues, she went the distance allowing two runs on two hits struck out five but walked nine and hit two batters. However Coach Nate Van Wyk said afterward, Blom came up big when needed. Taylor Stursma went three-for-three with three singles. As Pella Christian improved to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The story for Knoxville was eight runners left in scoring position. Coach Steph Christner says it is all about having confidence. Knoxville falls to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Panthers are off today and jump back into conference play Friday night at South Tama.
