The Pella Police Department has been notified of a financial scam that attempts to get people to release their credit and debit card numbers. Pella Police Lt. Paul Haase says this scam is a bit different in that it has targeted cell phone numbers. He says targeted numbers will get an automated call letting them know their account has been deactivated, and request personal identification numbers to reactivate the account. Haase says because banks and credit card companies already have access to that information, they would not seek it over the phone. To contact the Pella PD if you have been solicited, call 628-4921.
