World War II veterans have the opportunity to tour the World War II memorial for free. The Honor Flight program flies out World War II veterans from various airports across the nation and takes them out to Washington DC free of charge. Conrad Nelson, with the American Legion of Knoxville, tells KNIA/KRLS News that some local veterans have attended earlier flights and found the experience very rewarding. He says that that it’s a great opportunity for other veterans in the area. For more information on when they’ll be at area airports and an application to sign up for the program, go to honorflight.org.
