Melcher-Dallas held on for and eight-to-seven win over Twin Cedars last night in baseball. The Saints were able to benefit from Twin Cedars errors and making the plays in the field when needed the most. Robert Bingham got the win for Melcher-Dallas going the distance giving up seven runs on six hits, nine walks and seven strikeouts. Drew Carlson went three innings for the Sabers in taking the loss. He gave up five runs on four hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Coy Moore pitched the final four innings in relief. Melcher-Dallas is now 4-3 on the season and 4-0 in the Bluegrass Conference while Twin Cedars is 6-10and 4-3 in the B-G-C. While the baseball game came down to the final inning, the softball contest between the two schools was also as dramatic. Twin Cedars plated a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on in the seventh for a 4-3 win. Morgan Rozenboom earned the win going the distance giving up three runs on eight hits, six strikeouts, and one walk. Brooke Duncan was 3/4 with an R-B-I and Baylee Zelmer went 2/3 with an R-B-I. Lexi Crozier took the loss for the Saints going the distance giving up four runs on seven hits, two strikeouts, and three walks. Twin Cedars is now 10-9 on the season and 2-2 in the Bluegrass Conference while Melcher-Dallas falls to 5-9 and also 2-2 on the B-G-C.
