A 14-year-old Knoxville boy was injured after he flew over the handlebars of his moped. At around 12:40 Wednesday afternoon, the Knoxville Police Department and Knoxville Fire and Rescue responded to the corner of Lincoln and Pleasant after a report of a single-moped accident. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says the boy was eastbound on Pleasant and turning north onto Lincoln when he saw two vehicles in front of him turning into the convenience store located there. Losada says the boy attempted to stop, but hit some loose gravel on the road. He let go of his moped and fell to the ground. Losada says the boy suffered some minor injuries and roadrash, and was being treated at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. The accident remains under investigation.
