The City of Knoxville has installed a brand new server. The previous server was damaged by lightning, and attempts to repair it were not successful. City Manager Harold Stewart says that it’ll be nice for the City Staff to have the reliability the new server offers, as the old one was crashing frequently. He also says the new server will allow city staff to be able to more easily check their email on their smart phones.

IT consultant Jake Barnes adds that the new server will be faster and easier for those city entities that are using it remotely, away from City Hall, such as the fire station and the wastewater plant.
