Though they had to stage a comeback to do it, the Pella Christian baseball team was able to pick-up a hard-fought 6-5 win on the road at Newton Tuesday night.

The Eagles used a three-run third inning to climb back into the game, then rode the arm of pitcher Will Vande Voort to the victory. Vande Voort allowed one run on three hits while walking one and striking out two batters in his three innings of work to relieve starter Tom Bouwkamp.

Zach Zylstra continues to swing a hot bat for Pella Christian, and was 2-for-4 at the plate – including a triple – while tallying three RBIs and scoring once. Kyle De Ronde was also 2-for-4 for Pella Christian with a pair of doubles and an RBI, and Bouwkamp helped the Eagles offensively by going 2-for-3 with a walk.

The Pella Christian baseball team carries a 21-12 overall record and are 14-6 in the Little Hawkeye Conference going into Senior Night – a non-conference contest at home this evening with Des Moines Christian.
