Just one team stands between the Pella softball team and a trip to the Class 3A State Softball Tournament, but the upcoming hurdle will likely present the greatest challenge they’ve faced this season. The Lady Dutch travel to Oxford tonight to take on Clear Creek-Amana – the No. 2 team in Class 3A – in the Region 6 Final.

Pella has gotten off to a good start this postseason, with wins over Grinnell and Washington by scores of 12-4 and 8-1, respectively. That said, the Clippers have completely dismantled their opponents in the tournament, scoring fifteen both times in victories over Benton and Vinton-Shellsburg.

Pella High Head Coach Krista DeMeulenaere says that facing a team they haven’t played this season allows her squad to continue to focus on playing the same style of softball that has gotten them to this point.

The Lady Dutch enter tonight’s contest with a 20-7 overall record, while Clear Creek-Amana boasts a sterling 39-2 mark. The winner of tonight’s contest will face West Delaware in the first round of the State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge on Tuesday.

Coverage of the game will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS and streamed live online at kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman providing the call, beginning at 6:50 p.m. tonight.
