Finishing as national runner-up in the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships helped propel Central College to a 37th-place finish in the Learfield Sports Division III Directors’ Cup standings.

The rankings are based on a points system that takes into account each college’s national finish in up to 18 sports. A national championship is worth 100 points.

The Dutch tallied 388 points, the most since scoring 459 in 2000-2001. Central also got points from the men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams – which placed 7th and 17th, respectively – while the softball team was credited with a 9th place finish, the men’s golf team was 23rd, and the Dutch also had an individual qualifier in the national wrestling meet.

Williams – located in Massachusetts – captured its 13th straight Directors’ Cup title with 1,147 points. Central was second among Iowa Conference schools, with Wartburg taking 15th place with 605.5 points.

There are over 400 Division III schools, and 320 landed spots in the final rankings.
