An employee at Central College has been recognized with an award from the Governor for her volunteer efforts. Cheri Doane, Director of the Community Based Learning Center at Central was recognized with the Governor’s Volunteer Award for her commitment to Service Learning.

Doane says service learning is a way for students to become more critical thinkers. In addition to her duties at Central, Doane has also donated her time to the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and several organizations locally including the Pella Public Library Board, Red Rock Lake Association Board and many others.
