Century and Heritage Farms around the state were recognized during a ceremony at the Iowa State Fair. Three hundred and forty one farms were recognized including four from the KNIA/KRLS listening area. The Timothy and Cindy Kane and Doyle and Beverly Van Essen farms in Prairie City and the Don Harrison farm in Bussey. Also honored was the Elmer and Elizabeth Van Zante farm located near Eddyville. The Van Zante family is originally from Pella. A century farm must be at least 40 acres and have been owned by the same family for 100 years.
