Efforts are being made to reopen the Knoxville Village Movie Theatre. The theatre, which is currently owned by Fridley Theatres, is scheduled to be closed after Labor Day weekend. Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart says that the city is currently trying to negotiate with the school district and community business leaders to work out a plan to make the theatre open and operational as soon as possible. Stewart says that no one privately has shown interest in the building.
