In an update to a story previously reported by KNIA/KRLS, a Pella man has been charged with aggravated robbery and several traffic violations after an incident at a temporary Community College office inside the Ottawa, Illinois City Hall.

According to Ottawa police, shortly before 11 am Monday, a man identified as 24 year old Matthew Trotter, entered the office and displayed a black colored handgun and demanded money.

Witnesses told police the man entered the bank prior to the robbery with a woman, then returned alone to demand the money.

Just before 4 pm, Ottawa Police encountered a man and woman who fit the description of witnesses at the bank.

Trotter was charged with aggravated robbery and robbery and is currently being held in the LaSalle County Jail in Illinois on $150,000 bond.
