The Knoxville Community School Board met in regular session Monday evening. During the meeting, Curriculum Director Jill Van Woerkom alerted the board that the middle school had been designated as a “school in need of assistance” under No Child Left Behind for their reading scores. There are no sanctions that go along with that designation. The board also agreed not to add a community room or administrative offices to the proposed auditorium, and passed a resolution to forgo a G.O. bond issue vote, saying instead they’d use a combination of SAVE sales tax dollars and fundraising.
